An exhibition embodying all facets of artwork from spoken word to sculpture, film, painting, furniture, ceramics, photography, jewelry, architecture, and much more. |
The idea is to define loosely, a series of zones that may be somewhat private, more intimate with vertical surfaces that may act as backdrops for sculpture, pottery, painting, photography etc. Paintings and photos will be hung from the roof joists with thin wire or cable so that they are within inches of the fabric backdrop, floating just away from it so as to give the space some depth and cast a slight shadow on the surface behind.
TCF: Teflon Coated Fiberglass. This material is bright white, is structural, and can be stretched into parabolic and hyperbolic forms with a simple cable detail at its corners.
The idea is to create a spatial experience that defines zones and space within which we display and exhibit all of the artwork. The fabric elements should be minimal so as to maintain somewhat of the open feel and scale of the space - they should be perceived as objects floating within the space - along with the artwork, as we will float into the space, occupy it for a short time, and then we will float away and leave mostly memory, but also small attachment point holes as markings of the event’s happening. |

The space needs a little cleaning up, (no more than 204 12th Street) but the location is excellent. |
all of the video equipment is gone, this tennant has left the building. approx. 8,000sf |
Floor is exposed concrete. row of columns is the only thing that interrupts the space. |
The Restroom buildout is seen at left. ref: Floor Plan |
The exposed brick of the interior walls is barely seen in the right foreground. |
Some elec. trays in the ceiling to deal with. |
South face of building - will have to block off the edges of these for safety if we open the doors up which could be quite cool. |
This partition does not exist, the space is wide open. |
Plan of warehouse space: approx. 80’ x 100’ |
