Tractor Bender 2002

A project of more or less necessity . . .
1/4" steel plate, 2" sch 40 pipe, 1" sch 40 pipe, misc. threaded rod drops, oxy-acetylene torch, grinder, Millermatic 250 MIG welder.

Why . . . To bend rebar and any other steel or metal parts on a jobsite or at the shop using hydraulics of the back-hoe.

This machine attachment is capable of bending eight #4 bars at on time.  The initial job it had bent 1024 #4 stirrup bars  plus all the #6 corner bars, all of the vertical bars, & even the 8 #10 bars for the Ruskin House in just about 12 hours.

Since then it has been used on every bending job for any flat, round, or re-bar bending job we've had.  Well worth the 16 hour design/fab investment.

Right:  the initial concept & development sketches done nights in the guest House in Ruskin while finishing the Guest House and starting the Main House foundations.

Right:  this photo shows the first assembly of the attachment which had to be cut apart & adjusted for the location of the hydraulic arm & ram pin locations.  A matter of about 4 or 6 hours once I dug into it.

Right:  after the first successful trial . . . Before paint.

Right:  part cut drawing from early AutoCad model.

Right:  bending stuff on the 6330 project . . .

Right:  bending bars at the Living Space Addition
